Mr. Michael LAI Cheuk-pun
Mr. Michael Lai is the Executive Director of Nicedrape Solar Protection System Co., Ltd. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Economics from the University of Salford, United Kingdom.
Mr. Lai has over 30 years of industry experience. He has introduced numerous pioneering initiatives and reforms in the local shading project sector. He also chose to stay ahead of the curve by positioning his branded shading business to integrate advanced technology with environmental sustainability. He firmly believes that promoting green and eco-friendly shading solutions is essential not only to the company’s sustainable growth, but also to protecting the ecological environment and fulfilling social responsibility.
Mr. Lai is currently a member of the Election Committee (Small and medium enterprises), the Small and Medium Enterprises Committee (SMEC) and the Trade and Industry Advisory Board of the Commerce and Economic Development Bureau, the Sub-committee on Employment of the Rehabilitation Advisory Committee of the Labour and Welfare Bureau, the Telecommunications Users and Consumers Advisory Committee of the Office of Communications Authority, the Consultative and Advisory Panel of Hong Kong Internet Registration Corporation Limited, and the Council of Hong Kong Quality Assurance Agency.
Mr. Lai is also President of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Small and Medium Business, Vice Chairman of the Finance Committee of the Scout Association of Hong Kong (New Territories East Region), and Executive Director of Chung Sing Benevolent Society.
Register of Member's Interests
The Competition Ordinance and the Rules of Procedure of the Commission require that a member of the Commission, or a member of a committee of the Commission, must disclose to the Commission any interest that the member has which is of a class or description determined by the Commission. The Competition Ordinance and the Rules of Procedure also provide that the Commission is to establish and maintain a register relating to any such disclosed interests which it must make available for inspection through the Internet.
The purpose of maintaining and publishing a register of interests is not specified in the Competition Ordinance. Nonetheless, the Commission infers that the purpose is to enhance transparency and to ensure objectivity, fairness and public confidence in the decision-making of the Commission.
